Hijamah Sunnah Dates
Recommended days for Hijamah:
Hijamah is not only a religious practice but also an effective medical treatment for a vast range of disease and illness. When a person is in need of Hijamah it can be performed on any day of the year to obtain cure and Shifaa with the Permission and Will of Allah Ta’ala. However, there are days that have been advised to be avoided as well as other days that are advised to be used for the administration of Hijamah.
There is a long discussion on these recommended and discouraged days and dates for administration of Hijamah, taking into account the authenticity of those narrations. Situations can arise where a Sunnah date falls on a discouraged day as well. Overall, it may be safe to conclude that Hijamah is safe on any day of the month, and if not urgent, preferred dates can be sought. Many Imaams of Islam, such as Imam Maalik رضي الله عنه have clearly stated that they had done Hijamah on every day of the week.
Sunnah Dates:
Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه reported that the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Whoever performs cupping (hijama) on the 17th, 19th or 21st day (of the Islamic lunar calendar) then it is a cure for every disease.” (Abu Dawud)
