Essex Cultural & Youth Society (ECYS)

In recent years there has been an influx of Muslim families moving from inner London regions into various towns within Havering, particularly the areas of Harold Hill and Harold Wood. These families required prayer and learning facilities, which were not available nearby, and so ECYS was formed and Jumuah Salaah and Madrasah initiated.

Imam Sahib was born and grew up in the town of Harold Wood and so is well acquainted with the area and settled families in surrounding towns. His father was an orthapedic surgeon by profession and played an important role in Romford Mosque (HICC) as a Trustee and Secretary and since his demise in Yemen during his return journey from Hajj, Imam Sahib has lead Jumuah Salaah in HICC several times as both a student and graduate, taught at the Madrasah, held presentations and community gatherings, and conducted detailed Tafsir lessons for over 2 years.

It is a well-known and avowed tradition since not only the start of Islam and a major part of Rasoolullah’s صلى الله عليه وسلم own mission, but also of each Prophet of Allah تعالى, and our esteemed Scholars and Imams of the Deen, to have faced endless challenges and endure opposition and struggles in their lives and efforts to fulfill their responsibilities to Allah تعالى. It was of the closest people to Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم that he found his worst enemies, and those of wealth and power not only desired, but left no stone unturned, to suppress and oppose him rather than support him and submit themselves wholly to Allah تعالى and his Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم. As the first and only resident Imam in Havering, among all the many Muslim families settled in the area, Imam Sahib has encountered numerous challenges, and establishing a movement for the work of Deen in the local areas, which is in accordance with the teachings of Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم has not been straightforward, however, Alhamdulillah, in 2013 ECYS became a foundation, and holds strong hope in Allah تعالى that He will bring pillars of strength and success to it’s aid to benefit not only Muslims, but non-Muslims and all categories of society, in-shaa-Allah تعالى.

Besides Jumuah and Madrasah, ECYS has arranged for several years the Taraaweeh Salaah, Eidain Salaah and numerous community activities and events. If you are able to join us and offer support then please do contact us as we are always seeking more active members to progress our efforts, in-shaa-Allah تعالى.

JazakAllah
